Candle Burning Tips
Our 100% pure beeswax candles are handmade from wax produced by our own honey bees. There is much literature and research on the health benefits and spiritual significance of pure beeswax candles. The following information and tips are intended to help you learn more about beeswax candles and how to maximize burning time while using them safely:
~ Never leave a lit candle unattended, always extinguish a candle if leaving the room it is in
~ Candle burning time varies depending on size and shape of candle
~ Extend burning time by letting the candle burn for a few hours the first time it is lit
~ Drafts and wind can cause a candle to burn unevenly
~ Candles should be burned on a heat & flame resistant plate or in a secure candle holder
~ Trim unlit wick to a ¼ inch long, if needed (not applicable for tea lights)
~ Discard any trimmed wick (do not leave debris in the candle)
~ Extinguish flame, trim wick & re-light if there is carbon build-up on the wick
~ To limit smoking & help with efficient burning, extinguish candle with a candle snuffer or for pillar & ornamental candles dunk the wick into the melted wax and straighten
~ If a candle develops too thick a wall of wax, you may carefully cut the wall down when it is unlit to slightly above the wax pool with the safe use of a craft knife
~ Pure beeswax candles often produce a whitish film on the outside called “bloom”, to remove simply rub with your hands (good for the skin!)
~ To remove wax from a candle plate or holder, place in the freezer for several hours & chip off
